THREE POLICE ESCORTS KILLED AS GUNMEN ATTACK FORMER CBN GOVERNOR, KIDNAP COMMISSIONER

Unknown gunmen on Wednesday, 31st March 2021, attacked the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo, killed three of his escorts and kidnapped a Commissioner.  Eagles eye reporter, gathered that the incident occurred at Isuofia, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State during a meeting with the youths of the community.  Report indicates that the assailants went away with the weapons of the security escorts killed during the attack.  The incident adds to the growing number of attacks on security operatives in the Southern parts of the country.

BANDITS ATTACK THREE KADUNA COMMUNITIES, EIGHT KILLED AND FOUR INJURED.

Report indicates that eight persons have been killed and four others injured from a bandits attack in Chikun, Giwa, and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State. It was reported that, the assailants shot a vehicle at Kan Hawa Zankoro village, Chikun Local Government Area, which forced the vehicle to somersault, killing six persons, and leaving four others injured. In a similar incident in Iburu village, Kajuru LGA, armed bandits attacked residents of the community and killed one local. Also, armed bandits stormed Hayin Kanwa village of Fatika district in Giwa Local Government Area, and shot a certain businessman identified as Alhaji Sule after he resisted their attempts to kidnap him. SUEZ CANAL BLOCKAGE: US MILITARY HAS ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS TO MEET MISSION REQUIREMENTS.

Following the recent blockage of a vital waterway in Egypt’s Suez Canal, America has stated that its military ships have alternatives to meet mission requirements.   Suez Canal, a 120-mile long man-made waterway that runs through Egypt and connects the Red Sea with the Mediterranean Sea was blocked by EverGiven, a massive container ship for over a week, which caused a long tailback in the waterway with at least 360 vessels stranded. The route is also used by military ships, including those of the United States Navy. THREE PERSONS KILLED IN EDO COMMUNAL CLASH.

Eagles eye reporter gathered that three persons were  killed in a communal clash between residents of Sabongida-Ora, Owan-West Local Government Area of Edo State, and Uhonmora-Ora, another community in the council area. Report indicates that the crisis commenced on Sunday, 28 march 2021 when some persons went to measure the land at the boundary between the two communities.  This act infuriated the youths of both communities, who mobilised themselves to the area on motorcycles, and engaged themselves in a fight using dangerous weapons. The clash prompted schools and private businesses in the area to close down as tension in the communities heightened. NIGERIA ARMY ACCUSED OF ETHNIC BIAS IN RECENT RECRUITMENT EXERCISE, MILITARY RESPONDS.

The Nigeria Army has debunked claims stating that its recent recruitment exercise favoured states within a geographical location over the others.  Reports from online publications accused the military of shortlisting mostly northern candidates for the Short Service Commission 47 Selection Board which was published on 26 March 2021. Responding to the allegations, the Nigeria Army described the report as ill-informed, adding that the Military adheres strictly to the Federal Character policy which demands that an equal number of candidates be selected from each state of the federation.  While giving a breakdown of the recruitment exercise, the Military said : An equal number of 8 candidates were selected from each state of the federation except in rare instances where a state did not have the required number of eligible candidates to fill its 8 vacancies.  Following this number allocated per state, the South East which is made up of 5 States was entitled to 40 candidates. The Presidency on Tuesday March 30 2021, said investigations have revealed some Bureau De Change (BDCs) facilitating money to Boko Haram terrorists. GUNMEN KILL 7 IN BENUE.

Gunmen have killed 7 persons in the Tordonga market in Katsina-Ala local government area in Benue state.  Eagles eye reporter, gathered that the incident occurred on Monday 29 March 2021, less than two weeks after gunmen killed about 10 persons within the same local government area.  Report indicates that about 4 other persons were killed at Sai including a doctor identified as Avalumun. MUTINOUS SOLDIERS ARRESTED AFTER A FAILED COUP ATTEMPT IN NIGER.

Authorities have arrested several mutinous soldiers in Niger following an overnight coup attempt.  A government official told AFP that the situation is now under control.  Eagles eye reporter, gathered that there were sounds of heavy gunfire near the Presidential Palace in the early hours of Wednesday 31 march 2021,  in a failed coup attempt ahead of President-Elect Mohamed Bazoum's inauguration on Friday.  Bazoum, Niger's former Foreign Minister and ally of Out-Going President Mahamadou Issoufou were pronounced the winner of the February 21 presidential election with 55% of the vote.  Meanwhile, Mahamane Ousmane who received 45 percent of the electoral votes has rejected the results. The former Nigerien president who was deposed by a military coup in 1996 called for peaceful protests, crying foul.   Niger, one of the world's poorest countries, has experienced four military coups in 1974, 1996,1999, and 2010.

THREE KILLED AS ARMED ROBBERS ATTACK BANK IN DELTA.

Three persons were killed on Tuesday, March 30 2021,  when daredevil armed robbers attacked a commercial bank at Issele-Uku Community in Aniocha South Local Area of Delta State. 15 KILLED AS HERDSMEN ATTACK EBONYI COMMUNITIES.

Reports indicates that about 15 persons were killed following an attack by unknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on some communities in Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State.   The attacks occurred on Monday night, 29 march 2021, in Nkalaha, Obegu, Amazu, Nkalagu, and Umuhuali communities.   David Umahi,  Ebonyi State Governor, who visited the affected communities on Tuesday, 30th 2021, told newsmen that the assailants wielded AK-47 rifles, stressing that he would do everything to arrest the gunmen and bring them to justice.   David Umahi  said; “I remember that about a year ago, we had incident of killing of two herdsmen within this same location, and immediately, the security agencies and local government chairman and the community leaders, all came together to condemn the attack and the killing.   “We immediately asked the security agencies to fish out the people that did that. 30 COWS DIE MYSTERIOUSLY IN ONDO

30 cows have died mysteriously in the Akoko South West local government of Ondo state.  Oba Sunday Ajimo, the  monarch of the town, who raised the alarm, has sternly warned residents not to consume or sell the dead cows as the meat could be dangerous to health since the cause of death is not known.  Eagles eye reporter, gathered that the cows died on Monday evening, 29 march 2021,  after returning from an afternoon of grazing.  Sources saying that the cows must have consumed poisonous substances while they were out grazing.  the  monarch,  said he has notified health officials from the local government council of the incident so proper investigations can be carried out.

DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF TO ABIA STATE GOVERNOR, CHIEF AGWU UKPAI IS DEAD.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, Agwu Ukpai, is dead.   The announcement was made known by  John Okiyi-Kalu,    the State’s Commissioner for Information, on Tuesday 30th March 2021.   John Okiyi-Kalu,  said; “It is with sadness and a deep sense of loss that Abia State Government wishes to announce the death of Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, Ph.D., Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Governor, who passed on in the early hours of today after a brief illness.   “  Dr Okezie Ikpeazu,  Abia State Governor,  is in deep shock as he mourns the untimely exit of Chief Ukpai who has been a long-term associate, friend and irreplaceable partner in progress.   “He will be sorely missed by everyone in Government in particular and Abians in General.   “Our sincere condolences go to the immediate family, people of Ohafia LGA and the good people of Abia State.     “May God grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss and may the soul of Chief Ukpai rest in the boso

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ORDERS SERVICE CHIEFS TO FISH OUT THE MASTERMINDS OF KIDNAPPING AND BANDITRY.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the service chiefs to fish out the masterminds of kidnapping and banditry in the nation. The president mandated the service chiefs to be more proactive than reactive while carrying out investigation into the identity of bandits terrorizing the nation with the aim to fish them out. ONE KILLED AS SECURITY OPERATIVES CLASH WITH IMN PROTESTERS IN ABUJA.

POLICE ARRESTS 5 KIDNAP SUSPECTS IN ABUJA, RECOVER ARMS.

The Nigeria police have arrested five suspected kidnappers linked to the series of abductions at Kiyi and surrounding communities in Abuja.  Operatives from Dawaki Division and the Command's Anti-Kidnap Squad arrested the suspects at Kuje and Daki- Biu areas of Abuja between Friday and Sunday. The arrested suspects are: Abdullahi Haruna, Haruna Musa, Iliyasu Adamu, Michael Paul and Salisu Abdullahi. Maryam Yusuf,   The FCT Command Public Relations Officer,  said the suspects confessed to supplying logistics to the Kidnap syndicate operating in Kiyi village. Two AK-47 rifles, one Bajaj motorcycle and 30 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from the suspect during the operation.

TEN SUSPECTS ARRESTED BY EFCC FOR INTERNET FRAUD IN ONDO STATE.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested ten suspected internet fraudsters in Akure, Ondo State. Some of the items recovered from the suspects include laptops, eight exotic cars, phones, identity cards and documents. The Names of the  suspects are: Adekolurejo James, Gabriel Seyifunmi, Adekunle Joshua, Adeboyega Idowu, Olurunnayo Adewale, Akande Akinyemi, Oluwugbemigia Blessing, Oladepo Abiodun, Ibrahim Olagoke and Akinboyejo Abimbola were arrested on Monday 29 march 2021. The suspects would be charged to court after investigation according to  Wilson Uwujaren, the  EFCC Head of Media and Publicity.

NIGERIAN RESIDENT DOCTORS TO BEGIN STRIKE ON THURSDAY 1ST APRIL.

Members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have threatened to commence a total and indefinite strike on Thursday,1st  April 2021,  if the federal government fails to accede to their demands.  The doctors arrived at the conclusion during an Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting on Saturday 27th March 2021,  at the Trauma Centre of National Hospital in Abuja. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a mother and child for alleged N50M internet fraud in Lagos State. The suspect, identified as Ibeh Theophilus Uche, 28, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) 10 Kobo Wine Place, Ikotun, Lagos, was arrested in his room at Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Victoria Island, after credible intelligence and investigation reports about his nefarious and fraudulent activities. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a bearer of multiple identities. He revealed that he bears Rachael Armstrong , Keanu Reeves, Rebekah Schwarzenberger, Keanu Private, Elizabeth Hortman and Stefan Paulson, and confessed to be involved in Bitcoin investment scam, romance scam and identity theft. SENATOR SET TO ERADICATE DISPARITY BETWEEN HND, BSC CERTIFICATES.

The Nigerian upper legislative body, the Senate is set to eradicate the disparity between holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) and Bachelor of Science/(Bsc) certificates. This was made known  by  the Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Education, Senator Ahmed Baba  Kaita while speaking to newsmen at his office in NASS Abuja. The  lawmaker expressed concerns that holders of HND certificates have suffered various discrimination which led the Senate to push a bill aimed at curbing such discrimination. Cameroon military forces on Saturday, 27th march 2021,  killed at least 3 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists who attacked Dabanga in Logone Et Chari, Extreme-Nord, Cameroon The military arrested several members of the insurgents and recovered one of the vehicles used during the operation alongside several Military uniforms and arms. THREE PERSONS KILLED IN RIVAL CULT CLASH IN OSUN.

Reports has it  that three persons were feared killed in a deadly rival cult clash in Osogbo, Osun on Sunday, 28th  March 2021 . The victims are identified as Sogo Owonikoko, popularly called Marley; Daniel and a certain Afeez, popularly known as Eja. Report indicates that the violence started around 8am at Alie junction near the Obate community, when hoodlums suspected to be members of the Aye Confraternity invaded the area on motorcycles and shot dead Owonikoko. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that Boko Haram terrorists bombed two electricity towers on the Damaturu – Maiduguri 330kiloVolt (KV)Transmission Line. According to TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, the two towers were bombed early on Saturday 27th March 2021.    Ndidi Mbah,  said that the Saturday vandalism took place after TCN had made concerted effort and restored power to Maiduguri on 24 March, two months after the first incident. “The incident which occurred at about 5.56 a.m. on March 27 again cut power supply to Maiduguri and its environs. ” This time, the insurgents chain bombed two other towers; T152 and T153 on the same line route of the other incident,” she said. Mbah  said, TCN would do all it could to ensure power supply was restored to the affected areas.

Report  indicates that the fake COVID-19 vaccines are already in circulation in Africa, the letter said. Nigerian Government has raised alarm over fake COVID-19 vaccines currently in circulation in Africa. ALARM RAISE BY AUDITOR GENERAL OVER MISSING N500 BILLION AND $20 BILLION MEANT TO BE PUT IN GOVERNMENT ACCOUNT.

500 billion naira and 21 billion US dollars that are meant to be put into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) is missing. The Auditor General of Nigeria,  Mr. Aghughu Arhotomhenla,    who raised the alarm said the monies meant to be sent to the government purse landed into the accounts of private individuals.
