CBN SELECTS TECHNICAL PARTNER FOR DIGITAL CURRENCY PROJECT.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the formal engagement of the global Fintech company, Bitt Inc., as the Technical Partner for its digital currency, named eNaira, which will be unveiled later in the year. It was disclosed in Abuja by  Mr. Godwin Emefiele,  the Governor of the Central Bank, who listed the benefits of the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to include increased cross-border trade, accelerated financial inclusion, cheaper and faster remittance inflows, easier targeted social interventions, as well as improvements in monetary policy effectiveness, payment systems efficiency, and tax collection. NYG: 1,500 Athletes, Officials Converge In Kebbi State Capital For N W Zonal Elimination

No fewer than 1,500 athletes and officials are expected to converge on  Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital for the North West Zonal Elimination for team sports ahead of the 2021 National Youth Games (NYG) from September 1 to 5. This was contained in a statement signed by the Zonal Sports Officer, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday August 31, 2021. Breaking: Uche Secondus resigns as PDP National Chairman

Prince Uche Secondus has resigned as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. 12 PASSENGERS DIE IN KADUNA-ABUJA ROAD CRASH.

It was gathered that, Twelve passengers were confirmed dead after their bus crashed on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Monday. Eagles eye reporter gathered that Six persons injured in the incident were rushed to hospital. Samuel Aruwan,  Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs confirmed that there were 18 persons on board the Toyota Hiace bus. The bus took off from Kaduna and was headed for Abuja. The commissioner said the accident happened around Nasarawa Doka in Kachia local council.   “The crash involved a lone Toyota Hiace bus conveying 18 passengers from Kaduna to Abuja. The cause of the crash has been identified as a brake failure following a tyre explosion. “The kaduna state Governor, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the report, and sent condolences to the families of the perished victims, as he wished the injured persons a quick recovery,” The Governor said.

COALITION PROTESTS OBASEKI’S COMPULSORY COVID-19 VACCINATION.

COURT RESTRAINS GOV OBASEKI FROM ENFORCING COMPULSORY COVID-19 VACCINE DIRECTIVE IN EDO.

It was gathered that, A Federal High Court has granted an order restraining  Godwin Obaseki, the  Edo state Governor, from enforcing a directive that all residents who have not taken COVID-19 vaccines will be prevented from accessing churches, mosques, banks, event centres and other public places from the middle of September. While arguing the motions in the suit with reference number: FHC/PH/FHR/266/2021 filed by Charles Osaretin, against the Governor and five others dated August 30, 2021, the applicant’s lead counsel, Echezona Etiaba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), urged the court to order parties to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice, for the enforcement of the applicant’s fundamental human rights and for the leave of court to serve the respondents by publishing the court’s processes in a national daily newspaper circulating in Nigeria. POLICE RESCUE EIGHT KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN ZAMFARA.

PDP FIXES OCTOBER 30 FOR NATIONAL CONVENTION.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed October 30th and 31st, 2021 for the National Convention of the party. 11 RESIDENTS IN KANKARA LGA OF KATSINA STATE KILLED BY UNKNOWN GUNMEN.

Unknown Gunmen on Thursday stormed Dan-Kumeji village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing not less than 11 residents. The assailants stormed the community around 11.30pm on Thursday night and shot sporadically at residents in the village. Eleven locals lost their lives while six others sustained gunshot injuries. Eagles eye reporter gathered that helpless residents in the village scampered for safety upon the assailants’ invasion not knowing that the criminals had strategically positioned themselves in the village for an ambush. FEDERAL GOVERMENT ORDERS STOPPAGE OF STRIKING DOCTORS’ SALARIES.

Federal government has commenced the implementation of the no work, no pay rule for striking doctors, it will take effect from Monday August 30, 2021. It was confirmed in a statement by  Dr. Adebimpe Adebiyi,  the Director of Hospital Services Department in the Federal Ministry of Health. According to him, the federal government directed all the Chief Medical Directors and Managing Directors of federal government’s tertiary health institutions to commence the implementation of the no work, no pay rule for the doctors that were on strike and any health worker that may join the strike subsequently. PANIC AS PIPELINE LEAKS IN IKOTUN AREA OF LAGOS.

Many panic in the Ikotun area of Lagos State, following the leakage of a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. Eagles eye reporter gathered that a very large volume of PMS was gushing out of the NNPC pipeline at the aforementioned location. It was gathered that bandits attacked Zango community in Kaduna State, abducting seven persons. Over 70 students kidnapped from Islamic School, Tegina, Niger State, have regained their freedom after spending 88 days in the abductors' den. Recall that bandits invaded the village in June and whisked the students away. Ibrahim Ahmed Matane,  The secretary to the state government  who confirmed the latest development said the children are being transported to Minna the state capital. A Sources disclose that the students are on their way to Minna en route Kagara from Birnin Gwari. While the Tegina students have now regained their freedom, it is pertinent to mention that the abducted students of Yauri Federal Government College (FGC) have been in captivity for 70 days. Also, the remaining abducted students at Bethel Baptist School in Kaduna have so far spent 52 days in captivity.

UNKNOWN GUNMEN KILLED, OTHERS ARRESTED IN RIVERS STATE.

It was gathered that, Some Gunmen were killed and others arrested while they were trying to attack a Police Station at Eleme Local Government, Rivers State. Eagles eye reporter gathered that the Police were prompted of a possible attack on Eleme Police, which led to the Police ambushing the gunmen at Eleme/Oyigbo Road while they were coming to launch the attack from Oyigbo LGA. Rivers State Police Command has directed that all officers should remain within the official police business.  All none police related escort duties have been suspend for now.

DSS BREAKS SILENCE ON ALLEGED ARREST OF CHANNELS TV PRESENTERS.

Multiple report has it that, The Department of State Service (DSS) has dismissed reports that its operatives arrested two presenters of Channels Television. Eagles eye reporter gathered that the secret police denied this in a statement signed the DSS spokesperson,  Peter Afunanya. “The attention of the DSS has been drawn to news making the rounds in some sections of the media that its operatives earlier today (26th August, 2021) arrested two (2) journalists of Channels Television,” the statement read. “This is false and misleading.
